Internet Rechartering

Internet Rechartering is an Internet-based application that is indirectly connected to the council's ScoutNET membership data and provides the ability for unit leaders to complete the paperwork portion of rechartering from their home (office, etc.) over the Internet.  Once the unit completes the renewal process and submits its data through this application, a charter renewal batch is created within PAS for this unit and is placed on hold waiting for the registrar to review the paperwork and post the batch.  The unit prints its Charter Renewal Application upon completing the submittal process and sends it, along with other required documents, following the Council's annual charter renewal plan.

Internet Rechartering will be optional to units.  In late summer, each unit will be asked to choose its method of rechartering  -- the traditional way or over the Internet.  Those choosing Internet Rechartering must select an adult to be its renewal processor who will be required to attend a training session.  Several will held throughout the council territory.  The schedule will be posted here.  Additionally, anyone who wants to learn more about how Internet Rechartering works can take the interactive Internet Rechartering tutorial and view the help screens.

To renew a charter online:

  1. Sixty days before your unit's expiration date, select a renewal processor.
  2. The renewal processor attends training and receives the unit access code.
  3. Sixty to 45 days before the unit's expiration date, the renewal processor clicks Recharter Now and begins the process.
  4. When the online process is completed, the renewal processor prints the completed charter renewal application.
  5. The unit leader and the chartered organization representative sign the charter renewal application.  The application is taken, along with the material received in the recharter packet (such as Quality Unit application), and all appropriate fees to the district's charter turn-in meeting.
